Captured by Keyholes

Bronze Keyhole Cuff Bracelet
So by now you can tell I am obsessed with Victorian Keyholes, the magic that is hidden within them, the stories that they could tell and the sights that could be peaked at through them.  They have a mystery and simple beauty to them that I find so intriguing.  I have taken that inspiration and created a number of signature pieces that even Alice would be proud of.  From a Ring to a Necklace to a stunning Cuff Bracelet, I have also crafted the pieces not only in bronze but now in sterling silver as well and the response has been overwhelming.  Here is a peak at some of my pieces available for Winter 2011.

The Immortalized Typewriter Key in Sterling Silver

Our typewriter key charms have been hugely popular since 2009, the vintage typewriter key paired with our simple modern take have adorned our customers in some of the biggest events of their lives. From celebrating marriages to commemorating the birth of a child, honouring mom on Mother’s Day to wearing the initials of the one you love. For that reason I have decided to immortalize the vintage typewriter key in all of its simplicity and now offer it handcrafted in solid sterling silver to last forever. This gorgeous charm measures 14mm in diameter and is strung on a 18″ delicate ball chain.

The Estate Collection - Vintage Pieces Repurposed

Vintage Art Deco Dress Clip Crystal Necklace - Estate Collection Number 1

As I mentioned last month I stumbled across these pieces at a local auction house last year, and instantly fell in love, a box full of vintage dress/fur and shoe clips that in all of their sparkle had caught my eye. I have assembled some of them into a collection of necklaces that I call the Estate Collection. These one of a kind pieces can be brilliantly worn on their own or with my other pieces for a more collective look. Please check them out, I am so happy with them.

Obsessed with Circles

Brass Circle Necklace
So as of late, I have found myself really becoming obsessed with Circles, they are creeping into my work through the pendants  and the chains that I am using.  I googled the meaning of circles and found that is the ancient symbol of unity and wholeness.  Maybe I love  how infinite the shape is, with no end and no beginning.

I love how simple the shape is yet how it can look modern in my designs.  I stumbled across some chain that I love and have been incorporating it into my latest creations in small amounts, just enough to give the pieces more dimension and interest.

Two of my pieces that  incorporate this is my Magnifier Antique Brass Necklace and my Brass Circle Necklace.  The Magnifier Necklace has just a touch of the circular chain that picks up the shapes of the monocle.  The Brass Circle Necklace reminds me of something from the 1960's, simple yet modern and a great layering piece.

Something Old to Something New

Today while in my studio I rediscovered some fantastic rhinestone and crystal pieces that I have been holding on to now for well over a year, these pieces were actually once shoe and fur clips from well over 70 years ago.  I instantly fell in love with them when I stumbled upon them at my local auction house,  but was not quite ready to work with them yet, until today.

Each of these pieces are so very different and I know they must each hold some interesting stories about the people who wore them and what they have seen.  I think that makes them even more fabulous!  I worked on one piece today out of one of the shoe clips, working with two kinds of vintage chain as well.  I am going to be working on these necklaces over the next few weeks and will launch these one of a kind necklaces all at the same time so stay tuned to for the release date of them in my shop. I am so excited to be working with a rediscovered find and can't wait to see how these necklaces progress.

Fantastic Find...

Triple Brass Cube Necklace - Gwen Delicious Jewelry

I stumbled upon these great little vintage brass cubes in varying sizes and knew they would make some interesting pieces.

First up is a necklace that is modern in appearance but keeps with my standard vintage feel.

The necklace is comprised of 3 cubes in varying sizes with circular cutouts on each side. They are suspended on two different types of vintage chain, both with a rope like texture.

I have many more ideas for these little ones so stay tuned....
